THM

My amazing friend Amy has been on a lifestyle plan called Trim Healthy Momma (THM) since last year.  She has lost so much weight and looks AMAZING!!  Talking to her she kept telling me how easy it was and how easy it was to stick to.  I love food and sweets and she assured me that I would not feel deprived.  So, this summer I bought the book and started reading it. At the end of June I started switching our meals from our normal meals to THM meals.  On the THM plan you have S meals (satisfying) and E meals (energizing).  Basically you don't mix fuel sorces - your body needs both carbs and fats to live but not at the same time. We stuck to the plan daily until camp and then I was at the mercy of camp cafeteria.  We came back to camp and struggled to jump back on everyday all day.  Then August hit and I was determined to be on and run with it.  I have felt so much better since being on THM.  My kids LOVE what I am cooking.  Michael and I LOVE what I am cooking.  It is also helping us branch out and try new things.  I never feel deprived.  I get to eat sweets - and the funny thing is I don't crave them as much any more.  I am also satisfied after every meal.  The pictures below are from the past Friday (left) and the last day of school (right).  I am happy with the progress I am making.  I am happy with how it is so easy for my family.  I highly recommend the book - Trim Healthy Momma.  I believe they are about to release a newer version of the book and a recipe book also!

Week 1 done!

We made it through our first week back to school!!!  We were all exhausted and looking forward to a Saturday at home with no 5AM alarms set!!

We all dressed in our CGE shirts for spirit day!

I asked them to stand in front of the 1 love school banner and they both stood the same way! LOVE IT!
They love each other
7 years ago Claire and I wore matching school shirts!  Man how we have changed in 7 years!  And doesn't that look like Callen with a bow on his head?!?! LOL

First day of Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades!

This year my dream has come true!  I finally get to teach at the same school as my kids!  Cole started kindergarten, I started 1st grade and Claire started 2nd grade.  We are at the new elementary in town which opened last year with only pre-k, K, and 1st.  This year we added 2nd and next year we will add 3rd.  I love that it is small and I love getting to walk by their classrooms and spy on them during the day.
This week has been AMAZING for the kids and very hard for me.  I have a challenging class, but, I firmly believe that I have been placed in their lives for a reason.  This is my 11th year of teaching and my 4th year in 1st grade.  I took some time off from 1st grade but I am glad to be back!  I forgot how challenging yet rewarding this age is.  We are looking forward to an amazing year!
My big 2nd grader (she picked out her outfit at the store all on her own and I think she did a fabulous job!  Also the grand total for the shirt, shorts, and shoes was $12!!!)
Her big girl backpack from Justice!
My sweet kindergartner!! Oh how time has flown by!!  I begged him to wear this shirt and he finally said yes IF he could wear another shirt under it.  The button down shirt was off by recess!
Cole is like his daddy and has a backpack problem.  He had 6 backpacks that he has used less than 3 month each - some he has never used.  So Cole picked out a backpack from his closet to start the year!
Excited for their first day!
2nd grader in the gym waiting to be picked up!
While walking my class to my room I caught this cutie pie!
Daddy got him all situated and started on breakfast! (all kids pre-k - 8th grade are fed free breakfast each day)
This girl!  She had her daddy walk her to class everyday for 3 weeks in kinder, inside the building everyday for 2 weeks in 1st, and 2nd...she walked herself to class!  Daddy went and grabbed a picture before he left for work!

Callen's first day of daycare

On August 17th, Callen started daycare at Great Beginnings.  This is where Cole attended preschool and we just love everyone there.  Callen had a very hard time waking up this morning and was barely awake for the pictures but still adorable!!!
This was also my first week back to work!  We had convocation, hosted by our church, at 7:30!!!
We dropped him off and noticed that he was 1. the biggest baby in his room and 2. the most mobile baby in his room.  We both made a comment about him being moved up by the time we got back and he was!

Callen LOVED his first day.  They said he was happy and played well and even took a nap on a mat on the floor! I was shocked!  We were happy to have him back with us that afternoon!
Daycare that week lasted all of 2 days...Callen then became very sick with a high fever, vomiting, and ear trouble.  He was finally fever free by Friday.  He has a leftover cough and runny nose but no fever!

Claire day!!!

Last week we took Claire on a trip all by herself! Claire is so patient and good with her little brothers. We felt like she needed some one on one time with just us. She had saved gift cards from her birthday and Christmas and was ready to spend!!!
We started out her day by dropping off her brothers and letting her drive us out of the subdivision!
We stopped for lunch at Pei-Wei and this little girl LOVED it!! We told her that this was mommy and daddy's date night spot and she loved that we save this for special times!
We had a few mommy/daddy stops before our final destination - Hobby Lobby and Office Max.
Then it was time for the American Girl Doll Store!! She had saved gift cards and money to buy the new girl of the year - Grace!! She was so excited!!
Claire also had a gift card to Claire's. They were having a big sale and she was able to get these sunglasses, a locket, and some headbands! She was so excited!
We shopped a little more and then had to stop by IKEA. Claire loved looking at all the furniture and dreaming of ways to change her room!
Dinner was Mexican food and then...
Fro-Yo!!!!
I let her put what ever she wanted on hers...
She had a GREAT day and we loved getting to focus on just her for a day! Our little 2nd grader is growing up so fast!
