MRI results

We heard back from Scottish Rite today. I think I've explained this before but, we needed there to be a very rare fibrous cord on Cole's leg. With out the cord them we would have to start looking into limb lengthening procedures - which I was told not to google but did...and that procedure is terrible. The fibrous cord is so rare that the doctors at Scottish Rite have collectively only seen 4 cases. So...we were relieve to find out today that Cole does have this fibrous cord!! We go back March 7th to discuss everything the doctor will do during surgery and set up a surgery date. So very thankful for everyone who has prayed for us. We are also thankful that God is in control of our little man!!!

Gracie

Gracie has been home for a week now. We just love this dog!! She has already made her way into all 4 of our hearts and we just really enjoy having her. She is adjusting well. She sleeps through the night now (woo hoo). She is eating twice a day. She is doing ok with potty training. She is learning to go to the back door to tell us she needs to go out. But, she is having some accidents in the house. I've read on several blogs that this is typical.
She has the best little personality and is so fun to play with. She's also doing great with crate training.

Cole's MRI

Today we had an MRI done on Cole's leg. We are looking for a fibrous cord that should "light up like a Christmas tree" according to our doctor. Cole had to be under general anesthesia for the hour long procedure. They let me carry him back and hold him while they have him his happy gas. As soon as they started he began to scream and cry. It broke my heart and I cried a little. He kept looking at me and saying he was all done. As soon as he was asleep I was asked to leave. We waited about 15 more minutes and they came out to say he was fully under and had his IV in and tube in place. We waited about an hour and it was done. He did not like coming out - he screamed for what seemed like forever and when he realized the IV was in his hand he started trying to pull it out. Luckily he quickly drank some apple juice and we were able to remove the IV. About 45 minutes lanter we were able to leave. He asked for mashed potatoes so we went searching for a place that served mashed potatoes at 9:30 in the morning.
We are amazed at how God provides for us. He placed amazing friends in our life that provided a hotel room 3 minutes from the hospital. We are so thankful for the prayer warriors in our life and can't wait to see how God is going to get all glory for this!

Introducing Gracie Haffner

So...I finally talked Michael into puppy. The one dog I have always wanted was a golden doodle. However, they are VERY pricey dogs. But, none the less, the dog of my dreams. So when I found out a sweet family from school who I've had the privilege of teaching both of their kids. I love this family! Their sweet dog Lucy apparently had a boy friend with the dog next door and low and behold Lucy got pregnant. Lucy had 11 puppies!! They are half lab and half golden doodle. The family was giving them away!! Michael and I decided that the offer was too good to pass by and we went to meet our sweet puppy. Gracie at the time was only 4 weeks old and so she needed to stay with her mom and siblings until this Thursday the 17th. We are so very excited to bring her home and see how our kids do with this new exciting member of our family.

Fish Drama

So the Sunday morning we left for Lego Land, Claire came into our room and exclaimed "mommy! daddy! Percy (the fish) just told me that she was going to have her babies today. She's just going to poop them out and they will be here! Isn't that exciting??" We then had to sadly explain to Claire that 1) you don't poop out babies and 2) Percy is a boy. She then was adamant that Percy was a girl and would be having babies later today. In my head a fish is a fish and if Claire wanted to think that Percy was a girl she could. We have our wonderful day out and come home ready to take naps. When we pull in Claire says how excited she is to see Percy's new babies. Michael and I exchange a look and I believe he rolls his eyes. Claire comes bounding out to the car as we are unloading and screams "the babies are so cute! Percy just pooped them out and they are here!" I again calmly explained that there was a difference between fish babies and fish poop. Walking to the tank assuring Claire that mommy and daddy had picked all male fish when what to my eyes should appear??? 12 baby fish!!!!!!! And just in time to see Percy eat one of them. Here is where the fun begins. Claire starts yelling at Percy "don't eat your babies!!! Love them!!!" I decide this is NOT how I want our children to witness the fish life cycle and decide we are going to get the now 11 babies out of the tank and into a nursery tank. So I am fishing them out, Michael is holding the lid, and Claire is screaming at Percy to stay away! We get all but 3 out and call it good. I decide to call the pet store back and tell them that I didn't sign up for baby fish and ask if I could bring them back. The poor guy on the phone probably thought he was being pranked because his response was "no one has ever asked us that." So now our fish family has grown from 3 to 14.

Update: today Cole's fish Batman died. Cole could have cared less and thought it was super funny to flush him.
