So I debated weather or not to even post about this because I am SO grossed out about it. But I thought that I did want to remember it - because if it had been recorded we would have won big bucks on America's Funniest Home Videos!!
Starting around 9 o'clock tonight I had been hearing a strange sound coming from my bathroom. I am always hearing something "weird" and Michael never finds anything so I was not going to call him in there on one of my crazy "I heard something" moments. I kept hearing this rustling sound but never saw anything so I would just tell myself I was imagining it. All this time I was picturing something horrible in my bathroom - snake, rat, a burglar (I have a vivid imagination). Cole and I were snuggling on my bed when the noise became louder and more apparent that I was NOT imagining things. I sat up out of bed just in time to see what I thought was a very large rat run out of the bathroom trash can and into my closet. I let out a very loud scream and Michael came running. I told him that I had seen a large rat in our bathroom that was over 4 inches long! Now when I see things that scare me I tend to over exaggerate (I'm being very transparent here). Snakes that are a foot long become 5 feet long, there were thousands of bees when really there were only 4 - you get the picture. So when I told Michael that this rat was over 4 inches long he said - whatever it is probably only a field mouse. He locked himself in the bathroom, shoved a towel under the door and went on a mouse hunt (with his night stick I might add). Several minutes later I start hearing banging coming from my closet and I know Michael has found the mouse. When he comes out of the bathroom my only question to him was - how big was it really??? I know that I exaggerate when I am scared - I BELIEVE the exaggerations when I am scared, so in my mind it was 4 inches long (the snake is really 5 feet long, there are really a thousand bees - you get the picture). I was SHOCKED when Michael told me that I was correct on the length. He was actually 9 inches long including the tail!!! I would have paid big bucks to see my husband chase a mouse around our closet with a night stick - the sounds that came out of there were hilarious enough. All I can imagine is ninja meets killer mouse!
I'm a little concerned on where the mouse came from. Here is what I am telling myself to get through the night and NOT check into a hotel. We have been leaving our back door open since the weather has been nice. Claire can just come and go as she pleases and we can see her at all times. My guess is that the mouse came in our back door. We also left the garage door open this morning while loading the car (it was open for a good 10 minutes before we left). So the mouse HAD to of come in during one of those times. That is what I am choosing to believe!!!
I leave you with a picture of our dearly departed guest.
